1- Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Manchester United have been struggling this season, picking up just nine points from their first six league encounters. However, they ended their losing streak at Burnley and will now be looking for another encouraging result in the Carabao Cup. Standing in their way is Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace who have the capability to pull off an upset win at Old Trafford.
2- Liverpool vs Leicester City
After a big summer rebuild, Liverpool have made a spectacular start to the new season under manager Jurgen Klopp. They will enter the EFL Cup game as favourites, but considering Leicester’s form, a defeat for the Reds doesn’t look like an impossible result.
3- Chelsea vs Brighton
Brighton & Hove Albion lost Graham Potter to Chelsea last season, but in Roberto De Zerbi, they found another brilliant coach. The Blues sacked Potter after a series of disappointing results, while Brighton have gone from strength to strength under their Italian boss. The two sides will meet on Wednesday with the Seagulls likely to emerge victorious from the Stamford Bridge encounter.
4- Brentford vs Arsenal
Arsenal spent heavily in the summer transfer window and so the team looks much improved this campaign. After being held to a 2-2 draw in the North London derby, the Gunners will hope to progress in the EFL Cup at the expense of Brentford, who are currently enduring a poor run of form.
5- Newcastle United vs Manchester City
Despite mounting injury issues, Manchester City have maintained a 100 percent winning record this season. But the English champions are likely to face a big challenge in midweek when they come up against Newcastle, who hit eight unanswered goals in their most recent encounter at Sheffield United.
