Best EFL Cup games to watch this week

by fan-yak.com

Manchester City crashed out of the EFL Cup in a huge third round upset last month after Newcastle United beat them 1-0. Aston Villa, Brentford and Leicester City have also been eliminated following their encounters with stronger Premier League opponents.

Now the fourth round of the EFL Cup is upon us, promising some very exciting matches. Below we look at some of the best games, which can be watched via football live streams.

West Ham vs Arsenal

West Ham United are enduring a difficult run of form at the moment. After a promising start to the new campaign, they have now lost their previous three successive matches in all competitions, with their most recent defeat coming at home against Everton.

Manager David Moyes is under pressure to deliver results at the London Stadium. But the challenges for him will likely increase with Arsenal as their next opponents on Wednesday. The Gunners are competing again for the Premier League title and have been quite impressive so far. They are unbeaten in the league and are sitting second in the table with two points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton vs Burnley

Everton are facing the risk of points deduction over allegedly breaching Financial Fair Play rules. The club are now waiting to discover the verdict of the independent commission. Points deduction would be devastating for the Toffees, but it is uncertain at this point what the exact punishment will be for them.

Things are not that bad for Everton on the pitch though, as they have picked up two wins from three matches this month. Sean Dyche’s men will aim for another encouraging result when they square off with Burnley in the EFL Cup. The Clarets have had a difficult start to the English top-flight, registering just four points from their 10 games.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United

The two teams faced each other in the EFL Cup final last season, with United comfortably sealing victory after goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. In a replay of that final, the two sides will meet again on Wednesday at Old Trafford.

The Magpies haven’t done very well since their 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. In their previous four matches in all competitions, Eddie Howe’s side have won only once and suffered two draws. But United have also been very unconvincing with their performances this campaign. They most recently suffered a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City at Old Trafford.
